The writer A.R. Moxon wrote a thread on twitter about his approach to writing his first novel.
His approach matches mine almost exactly. Books of Loukas will not fit into any pre-determined genre, and I see no prospect of any established publisher picking it up for that reason alone. I therefore plan to self-publish it. If it sells like gangbusters and a publisher picks it up, all well and good, since a condition of a publisher signing me will be that I get to write what I want to write, not what the publisher tells me I need to write. One of the advantages of still having a day job is that I do not have to sign a publishing contract.
