We recently returned from a week’s vacation in St. Maarten.
St. Maarten is still recovering from Hurricane Irma in September 2017, exactly 4 years ago. A significant percentage of buildings are still not repaired or re-opened after that event. When we went there in 2014 we stayed at the Orient Bay nudist resort. The resort was mostly destroyed, and has yet to be rebuilt. Kind of sad to see derelict shells and roofless buildings where there used to be a thriving resort.
While I am on vacation, I always write. The change of scenery and ambience triggers different thoughts, some of them structural, and Belem usually writes something disgusting and just plain filthy. This time I was making detail adjustments to Book 0 of Books of Loukas. This is the prologue book, which I realized had to exist, if only in my head. But if it exists in my head, it needs to be written down. Some of the behaviors of two of the main characters in the rest of the book series cannot be explained until earlier events in their lives are defined in the prologue.
Belem Knight was also active on the vacation, he sketched out another tropical vacation story, involving two boatloads of bad girls and big boys who end up on a tropical beach for an afternoon. Belem cannot stay away from the down and dirty for more than a short period of time.
